Swim Research Advanced Water Chemistry (AWC) is a groundbreaking Australian innovation in swimming pool water quality. Made for Australian conditions, it makes pools easier to look after while greatly improving the quality of the water.

Our chemistry was developed for swimming pool automation — for remote management of pools over the internet. We needed to run remote pools where we couldn't add chemicals all the time. This required a ground-up rethink of how swimming pool chemistry actually works. And it gave us the opportunity to fix the chlorine irritation as well.

I have a PhD in chemistry, and have worked at CSIRO and some of Australia's leading science and technology companies. Pool chemistry has barely changed in 50 years and there is much that can be improved if you understand the chemical principles.

Conventional chemistry requires frequent testing and chemicals. This is good business for pool shops and keeps you coming into the store. The pool industry hasn't developed a better approach to pool chemistry simply because it is not in their interest.
